Brighid
is a Celtic Goddess of healers, poets, smiths, childbirth
and inspiration, fire and hearth.
She's
most often associated with the Wiccan Celebration of
Candelmas, also known as Imbolc. Taking place on the
first days of February, this holiday is a festival of
the hearth and home, and celebration of the lengthening
days and the early signs of spring. The lighting of
candles and fires represents the return of warmth and
the increasing power of the sun.
